Robin does not appear in the 1992 Batman Returns film, yet Kenner tooled, carded, and released him as part of the official tie-in wave — a deliberate choice to anchor the line with Batman's classic partner. The card copyright date of 1991 confirms production predated the film's June 1992 theatrical release, and some in the collector community argue this may represent the first-ever Tim Drake action figure produced at retail, adding a genuine layer of historical intrigue beyond the film-tie-in novelty alone.

This example is a vintage carded specimen: the card presents the bold Batman Returns header logo and iconic Batman oval emblem, with dynamic Robin artwork above the bubble. The bubble itself shows the expected yellowing consistent with over three decades of age, with the figure and accessories — a red launching grappling hook and waist-mounted launcher — held securely in their formed trays. The card back (item no. 6590-016-00) features full three-step grappling hook instructions and a comprehensive product grid advertising the entire Batman Returns wave, from Arctic Batman and Thunderwing Batman to the Batcave Command Center playset and Robin Jet Foil vehicle.

For completionists building out the Batman Returns run, Robin is the wave's hardest piece to rationalize and therefore the most rewarding to display. His absence from the film, combined with the 1991 copyright date and the Tim Drake identity debate, makes this figure a genuine conversation piece. Whether displayed alongside the film's villain-heavy cast or held as a standalone curiosity, he occupies a unique position in early DC movie merchandise history.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0832/2596/8956/files/image_001_9c440ac4-09b0-4a5d-99dc-39179c0236f3.jpg?v=1790619595
