Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Donatello (2021 Retro Reissue) (2021 Playmate Toys)
For collectors who came of age with the original 1988 Playmates TMNT line, this 2021 retro reissue of Donatello is a deliberate, faithful homage — not a reinvention. Produced by Playmates Toys to mark the enduring legacy of the classic Heroes in a Half Shell lineup, it reproduces the iconic card art, original figure proportions, and the much-discussed soft-head construction that collectors use as a key reference point when comparing reissue runs. It's a display-ready time capsule aimed squarely at fans who want the spirit of the original on their shelf.
The blue Nickelodeon-branded cardback faithfully recreates the 1988 aesthetic, with the bold "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — Heroes in a Half Shell!™" header and vibrant comic-style artwork across the front. The reverse carries the full "Portrait of Donatello" clip-and-collect bio panel — Vital Tortistics intact, listing his Bo Staff, Turtle Fist Daggers, Ninja Stars, and Kama, along with his legendary birthplace of Joe's Pet Place, Slowklahoma. The four-figure lineup (Donatello, Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael) is pictured at the bottom alongside the tagline "Get the Good, the Bad and the Accessories!" This example is presented on card in vintage condition.
As the self-described "Creative Genius" of the team, Donatello has always been a cornerstone of any classic TMNT collection, and this reissue fits naturally alongside the other three turtles from the same 2021 run. Whether displayed carded on a wall or kept alongside other retro Playmates releases, it captures the charm of the original line with period-accurate packaging that modern mass-market releases can't replicate. Item #81282, Asst. #81280.

Jays is my first stop in collecting. I preorder things through Walmart, Amazon, Hasbro Pulse, etc., but Jays always seem to get the items and either meet or beat the other companies pricing. I always end up cancelling my pre-orders and going with Jays. Better selection, price and MUCH MUCH better shipping quality. You can't even compare anyone else's shipping and packing to Jays. And that's why Jay's blows them all out of the water.
Great fast shipping, packaging with care. I am definitely buying from Jay's again! Such peace of mind knowing my items will arrive minty. 5 stars!
Perfect and careful packaging, shipped super quick. Thank you, will definitely be following the store!
Didn't pull any punches in item description. Came extremely fast and well packed. Extremely happy being a first time buyer! Thank you.
I've been buying from Jay's for a while now and I am never disappointed with the experience. Prices that can't be beat, easy PayPal option, and lots of bubble wrap surrounding the products. The fact that they go out of their way to make consumers happy keeps me coming back.
This is my 3rd or 4th time I have ordered from Jay's. The orders are always correct and arrive pretty quick and packaged extremely well. Best in the industry.

Yep. We’ve been hunting plastic treasures since the ‘90s. We speak fluent collector (MOC, BAF, grail hunting), we’ve camped outside stores for midnight releases, and we run this place like the shop we always wished existed. Professional enablers at your service. 😎
30 days to decide if it’s true love. Not happy? Full refund to your original payment method. Damaged? We replace or refund fast. Just keep items in the condition you got them, and we’ll make it right — because the only drama in collecting should be choosing a display pose. One exception: trading card game product is final sale, since a sealed box can’t be verified once it leaves our hands.
Calling dibs costs you $0 today — we only charge your card when it ships. No awkward “I paid months ago” limbo. Mixing in-stock + pre-orders? In-stock ships now; pre-orders ship together once the last one lands, and shipping’s charged on each leg (pro tip: check ship dates before combining pre-orders). Dates can shift — we’ll keep you posted faster than Spider-Man slings webs. And if we ever can’t deliver (rare), you’re not charged a dime.
