For early-2000s DC collectors, DC Direct's comic-shop-exclusive line was a revelation — comic-accurate sculpts aimed squarely at adult fans rather than the mass market. The Green Lantern assortment stands among the imprint's most celebrated early waves, and Sinestro was the crown jewel: Hal Jordan's arch-nemesis, a disgraced Corps member turned yellow-ring tyrant, and a character Kenner never adequately delivered before its DC lines collapsed. Mint-on-card examples of this particular release have grown genuinely scarce as the deep clamshell bubbles are notorious for yellowing and warping over two decades of storage.
This example is vintage carded — original 2001 packaging, heat-sealed blister still intact and uncut. The bubble presents clear with no significant yellowing. The card carries expected vintage wear: corners and edges show wrinkling, creasing, and discoloration consistent with long-term storage, which Jay's Toys has assessed firsthand. The dark starfield cardback features a full Sinestro character bio, sculptor credit to J.D. Bowers, a "Now Available" grid listing contemporaneous releases, and a "New From DC Direct — Star Sapphire" cross-sell panel. Inside the bubble tray, Sinestro is dressed in his classic black-and-blue uniform with white belt, and his yellow power ring accessory is present and accounted for.
This is an authentic TM DC Comics © 2001 DC Direct release — not a reissue, reproduction, or later variation. Sourced and condition-assessed directly by Jay's Toys, it's a meaningful find for DC Direct completists and Green Lantern villain specialists alike.
