Star Wars Star Tours R5-D2 Action Figure – Collection 3 (2003 Hasbro)
Park-exclusive astromech collectors have long targeted the 2003 Hasbro Star Tours sub-line as one of the most elusive chapters in vintage Star Wars collecting. R5-D2 was conceived specifically for the Starspeeder 3000 ride universe and sold only at Disneyland and Walt Disney World gift shops — never through mass retail — making it a true souvenir-era exclusive. The Collection 3 designation places this figure among the later waves of the original Star Tours run, released before the attraction was overhauled in 2011, and sealed examples from this wave are appreciably scarcer than earlier single-carded releases from the same line.
This example is a vintage mint-on-card piece presented in the original dark-blue Star Wars/Star Tours co-branded blister format. The card features the Star Tours logo upper right with a Mickey-ear age-4+ icon, a character nameplate reading "Star Tours / R5-D2," and a bilingual English/French cardback referencing the Starspeeder 3000 alongside the Disney Theme Park Edition castle logo. The figure itself displays R5-D2's distinctive weathered silver-and-red paint scheme — a deco exclusive to the park droid and never replicated in mainline retail. The card shows light edge wear consistent with age; the bubble remains firmly attached and clear.
