Star Wars The Vintage Collection: The Phantom Menace – Darth Sidious (VC79) (Hasbro 2012)
For collectors who prize the retro Kenner-style format, VC79 Darth Sidious stands as one of the most sought-after entries in Hasbro's Vintage Collection. Released in 2012 alongside the 3D theatrical re-release of Episode I, this Phantom Menace sub-wave figure earned widespread acclaim from the collecting community for its head sculpt likeness to Ian McDiarmid — widely called the best Sidious figure Hasbro had produced at the time and a marked improvement over the earlier Episode III Vintage Collection release (VC12).
The figure is presented on its original black retro-style Kenner-branded card with silver border, featuring Phantom Menace movie artwork of Sidious in hooded robes. A standout time-capsule detail is the on-card promotional sticker offering a chance to win a life-sized Darth Maul statue signed by George Lucas. The figure itself comes with both an ignited lightsaber and a deactivated lightsaber hilt, and this example remains vintage carded in its original bubble.
