Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – The Mighty Metalhead (Cartoon) Deluxe Action Figure (2020 NECA)
Few releases from NECA's Fred Wolf cartoon TMNT line generated as much collector buzz as Metalhead. Distributed exclusively through Target in 2020, the line's licensing constraints kept shelf quantities razor thin, and this robotic fan-favorite sold through almost immediately — leaving many collectors to chase the secondary market. For fans who grew up watching the late-'80s animated series, this figure represents the cartoon-accurate Metalhead they always wanted at a scale and detail level that Playmates' mainline simply never delivered.
The figure arrives in a premium collector-style window box with a hinged front flap finished in purple and blue, carrying bold cartoon-style artwork of Metalhead looming over the four Turtles beneath the "The Mighty Metalhead" subtitle. Opening the flap reveals a Turtle Lair diorama backdrop that frames the figure beautifully on display. This example is vintage and presents in collectible condition consistent with the package format. The accessory suite is what sets this release apart at the Deluxe tier: six interchangeable hands, swappable drill and vacuum arm attachments, and an opening chest panel that accepts the plug-in blaster — each detail pulled directly from the cartoon's most memorable Metalhead moments.
As a Target-exclusive release in a line already constrained by licensing, finding this figure at or near original retail is increasingly uncommon. It pairs naturally with the other villain-side and hero-side entries in NECA's cartoon TMNT series, and the Turtle Lair backdrop packaging makes it a standout piece even displayed closed. Whether you're building out the full cartoon lineup or adding a single statement piece, Metalhead's combination of scarcity and accessory depth makes him one of the line's most compelling entries.

Jays is my first stop in collecting. I preorder things through Walmart, Amazon, Hasbro Pulse, etc., but Jays always seem to get the items and either meet or beat the other companies pricing. I always end up cancelling my pre-orders and going with Jays. Better selection, price and MUCH MUCH better shipping quality. You can't even compare anyone else's shipping and packing to Jays. And that's why Jay's blows them all out of the water.
Great fast shipping, packaging with care. I am definitely buying from Jay's again! Such peace of mind knowing my items will arrive minty. 5 stars!
Perfect and careful packaging, shipped super quick. Thank you, will definitely be following the store!
Didn't pull any punches in item description. Came extremely fast and well packed. Extremely happy being a first time buyer! Thank you.
I've been buying from Jay's for a while now and I am never disappointed with the experience. Prices that can't be beat, easy PayPal option, and lots of bubble wrap surrounding the products. The fact that they go out of their way to make consumers happy keeps me coming back.
This is my 3rd or 4th time I have ordered from Jay's. The orders are always correct and arrive pretty quick and packaged extremely well. Best in the industry.
