This impressive 1:35 scale building block model recreates the legendary German Tiger II heavy tank, known as the Königstiger (King Tiger), one of the most formidable armored vehicles deployed during World War II. Making its debut in COBI's collection at this detailed scale, this version features authentic period-accurate camouflage from the final stages of the war. The construction offers exceptional play value with functional wheels, working tracks, a turret that rotates 360 degrees, an elevating cannon, and an accessible hatch for figure placement. Additional authentic details include a removable engine component that adds to the realistic building experience.
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B "Königstiger" entered service in 1944 and quickly became one of the most powerful tanks of its era. This beast combined incredibly thick armor plating, measuring up to 180mm on the frontal hull, with the devastating 88mm KwK 43 L/71 gun, making it a feared adversary on any battlefield. Weighing approximately 70 tons and powered by a Maybach HL230 P30 engine producing 700 horsepower, the Tiger II could achieve road speeds of up to 38km/h. While its combat capabilities were impressive, the King Tiger suffered from numerous technical challenges, including frequent engine and chassis malfunctions. Its complicated engineering and massive resource requirements made production both costly and labor-intensive, resulting in only about 492 units being manufactured. The Tiger II participated in several crucial battles, including the Battle of the Bulge and various engagements on the Eastern Front. Though its battlefield presence carried tremendous psychological impact, operational effectiveness was frequently hampered by logistical and technical difficulties. Nevertheless, the Tiger II endures as one of World War II's most iconic and recognizable tanks.
