Magic: The Gathering Series 2 Marvel Legends Checklist — Every Figure in the Wave

Hasbro opened preorders on the second Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Marvel Legends wave today — Thursday, August 13, at 1:00 PM Eastern. Within about fifteen minutes the r/MarvelLegends threads had stopped being about the sculpts and started being about the price. Four figures, $39.99 each, and every one of them ships with a foil Magic promo card you cannot buy any other way.

That price is the whole story of this wave, so we're going to deal with it honestly rather than pretend it isn't there.

What's in Marvel Legends Magic: The Gathering Series 2

Four single-packed figures, all 6-inch scale, all $39.99, each with one exclusive foil promo card from the Marvel Super Heroes Magic set:

• Doctor Doom 2099 — two pairs of alternate hands, two translucent lightning effect pieces, and the Doctor Doom, King of Latveria foil promo (P0003)
• Captain America (Avengers: Twilight) — five accessories: an unmasked Steve Rogers head with removable glasses, two alternate hands, the battle-worn vibranium shield, and the Captain America, Team Leader foil promo (P 0002)
• Malice (Sue Storm) — three accessories: an alternate head, two alternate fisted hands, and the Invisible Woman foil promo (P 0001), illustrated by Lucio Parrillo
• Black Panther — a swappable Infinity Gauntlet, classic Wakandan weapons, a half-mask head, and the T'Challa, the Black Panther foil promo. Amazon exclusive, North America.

Three of those four are the ones you'll find in the hobby channel and at Jay's. Black Panther is the one you'll have to go get somewhere else, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than let you hunt for a listing here that doesn't exist.

When do the Magic: The Gathering Series 2 figures come out?

Those first two lines are different claims and it's worth knowing which is which. Fall 2026 is Hasbro's number. The October date you'll see in estimated-arrival fields around the internet — ours included — is a retailer estimate, and retailer estimates on Legends waves slide. We're publishing it because it's the best information anyone has, not because Hasbro stamped it.

If it moves, we'll update this page and change the date on the product listings. If you've preordered from us, you'll hear about a delay from a person here, not from an automated email at 2 AM.

No Build-A-Figure — and what you're actually paying for

There is no Build-A-Figure in this wave. Hasbro runs them constantly in mainline Legends assortments, so the absence is a real decision rather than an oversight, and it has a straightforward consequence: there's no penalty for buying singles. Skip the one you don't want. Nothing gets stranded, no left arm goes to waste.

The real constraint on this wave isn't completion — it's the card. At $39.99 you're paying roughly a twelve-dollar premium over a standard $27.99 Legends figure, and collectors said so loudly today. The recurring line on Reddit within the first hour was some version of "I refuse to pay that much extra for a single card," with more than one person reading it as Hasbro testing how far single-figure pricing can go.

Here's the part that complicates the complaint, and it came from collectors too: those cards have moved for real money. One collector today mentioned selling the Series 1 Iron Spider Mary Jane promo for close to what the figure itself cost. Another said outright he'd grabbed his figure and would get around to reselling the card eventually.

So the honest math is this. If you play or sell Magic, the premium is arguably not a premium at all. If you were only ever going to leave the card sealed in the box, you are paying forty dollars for a figure that would otherwise be twenty-eight, and you should think about that before you preorder all three.

Every figure in the wave, and who it's actually for

Doctor Doom 2099

The one people actually came for. Marvel's 2099 imprint has been picked at in Legends for years without Doom himself getting a proper modern release, and when the preorder threads went up today, Doom was the name being asked about — two separate people in one thread asking for the link before they'd asked anything else. He's running well ahead of the rest of the wave in early demand.

The sculpt does the specific 2099 look rather than a reskinned classic Doom: hooded mask with the red eye deco, spiked pauldrons, the heavy cape. The two translucent lightning effects clip to the fists and are the reason the figure photographs well — and, as one commenter pointed out on the reveal video, the open gesture hand reads as Doom flipping you off from a certain angle, which is either a flaw or the best thing about him depending on your shelf.

Verdict: The buy of the wave. If you're getting one figure out of these four, get this one.

Malice (Sue Storm)

Malice is the deep cut and the wave's sentimental favourite. The reveal thread ran positive for weeks — "instant pickup for me," "need it so bad because I have the first appearance comic," and more than one person saying she'd be their first Magic crossover figure. As far as we can tell this is her first time in the modern Marvel Legends line; if there's an earlier one we've missed, tell us and we'll correct this.

The gripe is accessories. Three is thin for forty dollars, and the reused hands drew specific complaints — one collector said flatly he'd be waiting for a sale. The ragged cloak collar also limits how well head swaps sit, which matters if you were planning to use her body for a custom.

Speaking of which: customizers on the reveal thread think the red on her torso may be paint over flesh-tone plastic, the same way Titania was, which would make a costume-accurate alteration unusually easy. That's collector speculation from photos, not confirmed — but if it holds, it's the most interesting thing in this wave.

Verdict: Buy if you care about the character or the Fantastic Four shelf. The accessory count is genuinely light, so if you're neutral on Malice, this is the one to let go.

Black Panther

The most divided figure in the wave, and the one you can't get here. The Infinity Gauntlet accessory landed well — it was the single most-liked Black Panther comment on Hasbro's own reveal video. But when the Amazon listing went live today, collectors started pulling the figure apart against recent releases: one asked whether it's on the new Punisher body, another said the arms and legs are definitely reused from the last black-and-grey Panther and he was trying to work out whether anything below the neck is new.

Both things are true at once. It's a good-looking Panther with a genuinely fun accessory, and it's also substantially reused tooling. Nobody was thrilled about the Amazon exclusivity either — the most common reaction was some version of "strange decision."

Verdict: Worth it for the Gauntlet if you don't already own a recent Panther. If you do, look closely at the arms and legs in photos before you commit forty dollars.

Captain America (Avengers: Twilight)

This is the one we'd tell you to skip. It's the first Marvel Legends figure of the Twilight-era Steve Rogers from Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña's 2024 run, and if that book meant something to you, the figure delivers what it should — the dark-panelled suit, the armoured boots, and an unmasked older Steve head with removable glasses, which is a nice touch and the best accessory in the wave.

But it generated almost no conversation today. Of everyone posting what they'd preordered, Cap was consistently the "eventually" pick rather than the one in the cart. The most upvoted comment about him on the reveal video was somebody noting the head sculpt looks like Bruce Willis, which is funny and also not nothing — if you don't know the comic, this reads as a generic grim future Cap, and you already own a lot of Captain Americas.

Verdict: Skip unless you read Avengers: Twilight and want it on the shelf. This is the figure in the wave where we'd rather you kept the forty dollars.

What's not in the case: Black Panther

One exclusive in this wave, and it's a hard one:

• Black Panther — Amazon exclusive, North America. $39.99. Infinity Gauntlet, Wakandan weapons, half-mask head, T'Challa, the Black Panther foil promo card. Announced as an Amazon exclusive at San Diego Comic-Con, confirmed when the listing went live today.

We can't order him. Fan-channel and general retail both got the other three, and Panther went to a single account, which is why you're seeing him on exactly one site. Whether any of the European Amazon storefronts carry him is still unclear — collectors were asking that question today and nobody had a straight answer. If that changes, this section changes with it.

If you're only buying some of them

1. Doctor Doom 2099 — the strongest early demand in the wave by a clear margin, and the only figure here filling a real gap in the line.
2. Malice — the character pull is genuine and she's the one people were excited about before price entered the conversation. Light on accessories.
3. Black Panther — buy for the Gauntlet, not for the body. Amazon only.
4. Captain America — last, and only if the comic matters to you.

Flip that order entirely if you're buying for the Magic side rather than the shelf. The promo cards are what hold value here, and the card that matters most to a player isn't necessarily attached to the figure that matters most to a collector — Invisible Woman and Captain America, Team Leader are both playable Legendary Creatures in the Marvel Super Heroes set, and neither one is available any other way.

What we have right now

We ordered against this wave when it was announced at Comic-Con, not this afternoon. Doctor Doom 2099 and Captain America are open for preorder at $39.99 — MSRP, no markup for the card, no bundle you have to buy to get one.

Malice is gone. Our allocation was smaller than the other two and it's spoken for. We're working on more; if you want one, get on the restock notification on her listing and we'll tell you the moment anything lands. We'd rather say that than leave a buy button up and disappoint you in October.
